GRANGE LA CHAPELLE
TWO HEMISPHERES. A VISIONARY BLEND.
Introducing Grange La Chapelle 2022 – the second release from the bold and innovative collaboration between La Chapelle and Penfolds Grange.
Grange La Chapelle unites two winemaking icons – a compelling 50:50 blend of the world’s most elusive Syrah and Shiraz – intertwining the mutual excellence, precision and heritage of each House.
Shiraz from South Australia’s most esteemed vineyards combines seamlessly with the rare and expressive Syrah of the Northern Rhône. The result is an extraordinary wine which matches the innovation and conviction of Grange to the prestige and strength of La Chapelle.
"This 50:50 blend has woven a majestic Syrah/Shiraz exemplar. One for the ages."

PENFOLDS CHIEF WINEMAKER
GRANGE
A REVERED PENFOLDS ICON
The most powerful expression of Penfolds multi-district blending philosophy, Grange is one of the world's most celebrated wines.
This wine's story is one of invention, passion, risk and determination. Created in 1951, Grange has enjoyed a consecutive annual release for 75 years.
LA CHAPELLE
A LEGENDARY CUVEÉ
Named after the chapel atop the granitic hill of Hermitage, the most famous terroir of the Northern Rhône, France.
La Chapelle craft Syrah from these steep, sun-drenched slopes into a wine of true longevity and mythical status. Today La Chapelle vintages 1978, 1990, 1991 & 2015 vintages are much sought after.
The long‑standing friendship between Penfolds Chief Winemaker Peter Gago and Caroline Frey of La Chapelle paved the way for this unexpected union. Their shared vision: to blend prestigious landscapes and diverse traditions into one pure expression of the varietal.
After the landmark inaugural release, the 2022 stands as a testament to the enduring conviction of this shared purpose.
“Grange La Chapelle is a conversation between two hemispheres. A wine that does not seek to compare, but to unite, expressing a shared vision of Syrah and excellence. With this second vintage, building on the foundation laid in 2021, the identity of the wine is firmly established, carried by the singularity and magic of the 2022 vintage.”
-CAROLINE FREY,
CHIEF WINEMAKER THROUGH THE 2024 VINTAGE
